The Robert Fish Band have been getting folk on their feet in Edinburgh and beyond for well over a decade. They spend many a Saturday night "walking the line between tradition and innovation with sparkling flair - and a highly contagious sense of fun" (Sue Wilson) and have played venues from Blackpool to Brittany, from Leipzig to Lochaber, from Glasgow Green to Gilmerton Miners' Welfare Club. The band play and call the steps to all the well-known Scottish ceilidh dances and a few of the more unusual ones besides, with a line-up of fiddle, accordion/whistle, guitar, bass and percussion.

"...fantastic feedback from guests - everyone agreed that the band produced great music and put on a great show with a fun atmosphere!" Melville Castle Hotel

"A great groove for the dancing, and they do it all a wee bit differently - brilliant fun arrangements of the music and a good solid professional approach to the gig." Colin Blakey

"Many thanks for playing and calling for our ceilidh at the Piping Centre as part of our wedding celebrations. Your playing was fantastic and it was great to have instructions for those unfamiliar with the dances! Many guests commented on what a great evening they had - thank you again for everything you did in making it such a success!" Suzanne

"Hold on, this is neither the umpah umpah ceilidh band stuff nor the party folk rock you get very often from younger bands. Although they have a strong rhythm section (drums, bass, guitar) they have beautiful and very danceable arrangements, without losing the connection to the tunes...you get the impression they are even better when they have a dancing crowd in front of them." Folkworld magazine

"Walking the line between tradition and innovation with sparkling flair - and a highly contagious sense of fun - they have helped to spearhead the remarkable revivable in social dancing that has accompanied Scotland's recent folk renaissance, bringing the nation's original party music back to where it belongs, right at the heart of community life. Stick on the record, take your partners and strut your stuff; but be warned - excessive exposure to these tunes can induce extreme euphoria and sweatiness." Sue Wilson
